You’ll roll into Panama City thinking you’ve got the weekend mapped, and then a mirror maze steals your afternoon or a haunted house employee named Kam becomes your new best friend. This town stacks wild energy against lazy charm—one minute you’re drinking life-changing peach wine at the beach winery, the next you’re lost in a wooden go-kart monster that bruises your ego.

Even the escape rooms here feel personal, like they were built to test your patience and then hug you when you fail. I’ve eaten too many poutine fries at Swampy Jack’s and I’m not sorry.

Here’s the rundown.

Mind-bending mirror maze adventure
Bizarre artifacts everywhere you look
Oddities that spark genuine wonder
Perfect rainy-day family adventure

I rolled into Ripley's on a rainy afternoon, convinced I was too cool for a mirror maze. Oh, how wrong I was. I got lost in that maze for twenty minutes. My own reflection kept judging me. The bizarre artifacts are everywhere, from shrunken heads to impossible contraptions. Each one made me say, “Wait, what?” out loud. A stranger laughed at me. Fair. It sparked genuine wonder, that rare feeling you can't fake. If the weather turns ugly, this place turns into the best decision in Panama City. I left disoriented, delighted, and slightly questioning reality. Bring your kids. Bring your skepticism. Lose both.

Unique and memorable experience

I spotted the upside-down building from the road and laughed. Then I walked inside, and the whole world tilted. WonderWorks is a playground for curious adults who refuse to grow up. Interactive exhibits everywhere. I tried to outsmart a laser maze. I failed. I made a giant bubble around myself. I felt like a brilliant toddler. Kids were having a blast, but so was I, and that's what matters. It's a unique, memorable experience that doesn't feel like a lecture. It feels like a party with science. Perfect for families, sure. Perfect for me, definitely. I walked out dizzy and smarter.

Emerald Falls Family Recreation Center

Multi-level wooden go-kart track
Fun for the whole family
Big arcade and go-karting
Affordable family adventure

I showed up to Emerald Falls expecting a simple track. I found a multi-level wooden monster. The go-kart track climbs and twists like a roller coaster with a steering wheel. I gripped the wheel and prayed. My competitive streak emerged with my cousin. We raced three times. I lost every single time. I am not okay with that. The arcade glows with promise and eats quarters. My kids dragged me from game to game. It didn't cost a fortune, which shocked me. This is an affordable family adventure that delivers real adrenaline. My ego is bruised. My wallet is fine. That's a win.

Fun rides, zero lines
Great for kids evenings
Mini golf and go-karts
Delicious poutine fries
Affordable for visitors

Swampy Jack's has rides with zero lines. That's a sentence I never thought I'd write. I walked straight onto the go-karts. No waiting. Pure joy. My daughter and I played mini golf, and she beat me by two strokes. She won't let me forget it. The poutine fries arrived hot, salty, and covered in gravy and cheese curds. I ate too many. I regret nothing. Evenings here feel easy and relaxed. Kids run wild with smiles. The prices are gentle on your wallet, which feels like a miracle. I stumbled in tired and left giddy. This place gets it.

A must-visit local spot

I'm a wine snob. Or I was. Then I walked into Panama City Beach Winery and discovered fruit wines that changed my life. Seriously. The peach wine tasted like summer in a glass. The staff knows everything and they're genuinely excited to share it. They laughed at my terrible wine jokes. They didn't even fake it. The music sets a perfect vibe, warm and welcoming. I came in as a skeptic. I left with three bottles. This is the spot for wine newbies, because they don't judge. They guide. I felt like a regular after ten minutes. Do not skip this local treasure.

Nicest employees ever
Fun, scary haunted house
Challenging, winnable escape room
Amazing staff, especially Kam

I usually avoid haunted houses because I scare easily. Like, scream-and-flail easily. But Fear at the Pier had the nicest employees I've ever met. They smiled before they tried to terrify me. Kam, especially, was a legend. He hyped us up, gave us tips, and then watched us scream. The haunted house was scary but fun, that perfect balance of terror and laughter. Then we tried the escape room. It was challenging. We failed, but barely. That just makes me want to go back. The staff cheered us on anyway. I left with a sore throat from yelling and a warm feeling in my chest.

I stepped into Escape Manor and immediately felt like I'd time-traveled to my uncle's 1980s cabin. The decor is impeccable. The vibe is cozy and weird. The owner greeted us like old friends. We entered the escape room with zero expectations. The puzzles were creative and balanced, not too hard, not too easy. We actually solved it with minutes left. My heart was pounding. The waiting area is a treat in itself, full of quirky touches. I didn't want to leave. This place deserves a return visit. I'll be back. I might even bring better friends.

Historic Downtown Panama City surprised me. I parked in a walkable tunnel and felt like I'd discovered a secret. The antique store is a maze of vintage clothing and treasures. I found a jacket that smelled like 1975. I almost bought it. The free art center downtown is a gift to humanity. I wandered in and felt instantly calmer. Charming shops and eateries line the streets. I grabbed coffee and watched the world go by. There are weekly runs and even weddings in the park. This area has soul. It's not flashy, but it's real. I'll be back to explore more.

Fun despite failure
Morgue makes you think
Haunted house scares
Great psychological puzzles

We failed our escape room at Escape Games Pier Park. I'm still smiling about it. The morgue theme made us think, really think. Every clue felt like a tiny victory. Then we lost. The horror was that we were so close. But the fun never stopped. The haunted house portion added scares that made me jump. The psychological puzzles were sharp and clever. My team worked together, which is a miracle. We argued. We laughed. We got out with no time to spare, and then we didn't get out. Either way, it was a blast. I'm already planning my revenge.

Three days of family fun
Friendly staff, attentive lifeguards
Convenient hotel access

Kingdom Splash Fest turned a weekend into a memory. Three days of pure family fun. My kids were in the water before I even found a chair. The staff were friendly, always smiling, always helpful. Lifeguards actually paid attention, which I appreciate. I have two kids. I need watchful eyes. We had convenient hotel access, so no hauling wet towels across town. That made everything easier. We spent hours splashing and squealing. My skin got pruny. My heart got full. This festival knows what it's doing. It's simple, joyful, and perfect. I'm tempted to bring the whole extended family next year.

Great pirate atmosphere
Challenging, well-kept holes
Cool cave setups
Play two 18-hole courses

Pirate's Island Adventure Golf is pure gold. I arrived ready to golf and got transported to a pirate world. The atmosphere is fantastic, complete with caves and treasure vibes. I played all 18 holes on the first course. Then I played the second 18. My feet hurt. My aim is terrible. I loved every second. The holes are challenging and well-kept. The cave setups are incredibly cool, and I almost hit a fake parrot. My kids outscored me, obviously. It's fun for all ages, no snobbery allowed. I declared myself a pirate captain by the end. My shipmates disagreed.

I walked into 810 Entertainment expecting bowling. I got a whole night of joy. The lanes were great, and the arcade glowed with temptation. I spent too many tokens. No regrets. The staff were friendly and quick, and they helped me find the vegan pizza crust option. I devoured that pizza. Then I spotted the prize vending machine. It's a cool twist that made me feel like a kid. I also grabbed a milkshake from Mean Mugs. It was thick and delicious. My group bowled, laughed, and ate until we couldn't move. This place checks every box. I'll be back. Probably next week.
