I woke up in Panama City craving grease and grace, and I found both. This city runs on coffee and loyalty, from the downtown crowd at Sunrise to the family tables at Boricuba, where the portions shame my self-control.

My kids behaved at a bakery with honey cake; I nearly wept over cold brew at Panama City Coffee Co. You want bacon worth a lab study and gluten-free donuts that convert skeptics.

Breakfast here is a serious, joyful business. Low bar for mornings, high bar for flavor, and I tested both.

Here is where to start.

Freshly made every single time
Great coffee and delicious food
Fun décor kids adore
Excellent honey cake and baklava
Consistent quality visit after visit

I rolled into Sunrise Cafe & Bakery with a growling stomach and zero patience. They didn't care. They just made my plate fresh. Every single time. That consistency is a magic trick I still don't understand. The coffee hit like a warm hug, and the honey cake? I may have audibly gasped. Baklava too, flaky and sticky and perfect. The décor is so fun my kids actually behaved. That never happens. I am not a morning person. But this place makes me pretend I am. Consistency is rare. This is rarer. Go early. Go hungry. Thank me later.

Top-notch service every visit

The new downtown Sunrise location shines like a freshly buffed floor. And I slipped right in. The loaded croissant sandwich is a glorious mess of buttery layers and savory fillings. It wins. It just does. Then the fried chicken biscuit delighted me so much I nearly cried into my napkin. The kitchen sink cookie? That thing should be illegal. Chunky, chewy, ridiculous. Service was top-notch, which matters when I'm three cups of coffee deep and asking silly questions. This spot feels like the original's cooler sibling. Same soul, sharper suit. I left full, happy, and plotting my return.

The Bun Lab is not just about buns, though their burgers are fantastic. Creative wings too. I had a wing that made me write a thank-you note to myself for choosing this place. Service is welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Almost suspiciously nice. They offer local discounts and happy hour, which I respect deeply. Also, they are great for pool and ATM. That last part sounds odd, but trust me, it's convenient. I came for breakfast, stayed for the vibe, and left wondering why every place isn't like this. Casual, warm, and delicious. My kind of chaos. My kind of morning. My kind of spot.

Taylor's Breakfast and Lunch feels like your favorite aunt's kitchen, if your aunt cooked like a professional. Warm, attentive service right from the door. Meals came out quick, fresh, and hot. The corned beef hash packed so much flavor I forgot my own name for a second. My kids devoured the French toast like they hadn't eaten in weeks. Portions are perfectly sized. Not too big, not sad. Just right. I watched a table of regulars laugh with the staff. That tells you everything. I stumbled in, got treated like family, and stumbled out with a full heart and fuller belly. Breakfast does that. Taylor's does it best.

Amazing croissant sandwiches
Owner’s personal touch
Live sax on Sundays
Waffles and omelets shine

Andy's Flour Power Cafe & Bakery has bacon that should be studied in labs. Some of the best I have ever tasted. Crispy, smoky, life-changing. Their croissant sandwiches are absurdly good, all flaky and buttery and stuffed. The owner's personal touch is everywhere. She remembers faces. That's rare. On Sundays, a live saxophone plays. I did not expect jazz with my waffles. I needed it. The waffles and omelets shine like morning stars. I sat there, chewing, swaying, and feeling inexplicably cool. This place has heart, soul, and excellent pastry. I am not a musician. But I left wanting to play sax. That's the power of a great breakfast.

Another Broken Egg Cafe lives up to its name in the best way. My eggs arrived beautifully broken, scattered across a plate that looked like art. Friendly, attentive, top-notch service from the moment I sat down. The food was fresh, flavorful, and presented so nicely I almost didn't want to ruin it. Almost. The atmosphere is relaxing and organized. Even when crowded, it felt calm. That's a feat. I ordered something simple, then something bold. Both wowed me. This place knows how to balance comfort with creativity. I left feeling like I had been taken care of. Like the world was okay. Breakfast can do that. This one does it well.

Savory donuts for later visits
Great midday selection and coffee
Convenient drive-through and patio

Parlor Doughnuts changed my morning. Fresh made-to-order gluten-free donuts? I did not believe it until I bit one. Oh my. That texture. That warmth. The maple and French toast options are top-tier, sticky and sweet and dangerously good. They also have savory donuts. I am already planning my next visit for those. The midday selection was impressive, and the coffee held its own. There's a convenient drive-through and a patio, so you can be lazy or fancy. I chose lazy and ate in my car. No regrets. This place makes donuts feel like a ceremony. A delicious, messy, joyful ceremony. I am a convert. A glazed, grateful convert.

Fatty Patty's Cafe is pure mom and pop charm. The kind of place where the owner might call you sweetheart and mean it. I ordered the incredible breakfast burrito. It was massive. It was glorious. The chicken biscuit gravy? Best I have ever had. Rich, peppery, and so good I considered licking the plate. I didn't. But I wanted to. The staff is friendly and local, always smiling, always quick. This is the breakfast you want when you need comfort without pretense. I waddled in as a stranger and left feeling like a regular. That's the magic here. Simple food, genuine warmth, and enough gravy to drown your worries.

The Pour is not just coffee. It's a mission. The beans are organic and sourced from fair co-ops, so every sip feels vaguely noble. I felt like a better person just holding the cup. And the coffee itself? Strong, smooth, and purposeful. But the desserts. Oh, the desserts. They demand applause. I clapped quietly to myself. The warmth here is palpable, in the drinks and the vibe. I sat for an hour, watching people come and go, all of them smiling. You can taste the care. It's in the roast, the pastries, the gentle hum of conversation. This place makes you want to linger. So I did. And I will again. For the cause, of course.

Boricuba Cafe serves the best Puerto Rican and Cuban food I have found in Panama City. Better than some trips to Puerto Rico, honestly. That's a bold claim. I stand by it. The portions are large and generous, the kind that make you loosen your belt before you start. The service is warm, welcoming, and special. They treat you like family that they actually like. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with obvious care. I had a plate that made me slow down. That never happens. I savored every bite. Then I ordered more. I left full, grateful, and planning my next visit. This is not just breakfast. This is a celebration. Go celebrate.

Strawberry pop tart wins

Panama City Coffee Co has the best cold brew I have ever tasted. I know that's a strong statement. I've made it. I'm sticking with it. Smooth, bold, and dangerously refreshing. The maple bagel exceeded every expectation. Sweet, chewy, perfect. Then the Italian bagel sandwich showed up, and I almost fainted. Layers of flavor, perfectly toasted, utterly satisfying. And the strawberry pop tart? That nostalgic little pastry won my heart. It tasted like childhood but better. This place takes breakfast seriously, and you can feel it in every bite. I came for coffee. I stayed for everything else. My only regret is not discovering it sooner. Go. Now. You're welcome.

Amavida Coffee Roasters in St. Andrews is a cute independent cafe that feels like a secret. The espresso is the best in the area. I am not exaggerating. It is rich, balanced, and slightly magical. They offer interesting coffee flavors that make me feel adventurous without trying hard. And the avocado toast? Solid. Creamy, zesty, and properly toasted. The vibe is calm and creative, perfect for pretending to write a novel while actually scrolling my phone. The staff knows their craft. They take pride in it. That shows. I sat by the window, sipped my latte, and watched the world amble by. Breakfast here is quiet excellence. No loud theatrics. Just superb coffee and good food. I loved every second.
