The seafood boil in Panama City Beach is a religion, and the pews are plastic tables covered in newspaper. You know the drill: you peel, you drip, you judge the corn.

But the boils here are not one monolithic thing. The spread runs from market counters that will steam your catch for free to waterfront spots where the sunset does the seasoning.

We hit the strip and the side roads, places where the staff remembers your drink order and a market where the shrimp tastes like it came off the boat an hour prior. One place has flies that join your dinner.

The other has crab legs that come with a souvenir bucket. The only thing they share is the Old Bay.

Here are the best boils in town.

Plenty of food, easy pickup
Seasoned well, quality takeout
Simple phone ordering process
Great shrimp boil for two
Worth returning, highly recommended

Squidly's proved why simple works. The phone ordering took minutes. No app, no fuss. Our shrimp boil for two arrived hot and heavy. The bag sagged with plenty of food. Seasoning clung to every shell, bold without burning. Pickup was painless, a rarity on this strip. We ate on the hotel balcony, watching cars crawl. The shrimp stayed juicy. The corn and potatoes soaked up all the good stuff. It tasted like someone actually cared about the takeout game. I'd call it a safe bet, but that undersells it. Worth returning, absolutely. Highly recommended, even for picky eaters. Sometimes you just want good food without a show.

Attentive, efficient service
Ocean-view outdoor seating
Great drinks and dessert

Harpoon Harry's sits right on the sand, and the view does half the work. We grabbed an ocean-view table and ordered the bucket of crab legs. They arrived stacked and steaming. The service stayed attentive without hovering. Efficient, even when the place filled up. Our server kept drinks full and checked in at the right moments. The souvenir bucket went home with us, now holding seashells and sand. Dessert came after, something cold and sweet. The drinks were strong enough to justify the beachfront price. The breeze off the water made everything better. This is the kind of place where you linger. No rush, no fuss, just crab and ocean.

Highlights
Large portions, fair prices
Friendly, attentive service
Great oysters Rockefeller
Immediate seating, even busy
Solid off-strip local spot

Billy's sits off the strip, and that's a point in its favor. We walked in during a busy hour and got seated right away. The menu covers the basics, but the oysters Rockefeller stood out. Hot, cheesy, with a hint of herbs. Large portions for the price, no complaints there. Our server checked on us often, friendly without hovering. The place feels like a local joint, all worn edges and good cheer. Not fancy, just honest. The boil came out messy and delicious. We left with leftovers, which never happens. If you want a solid meal without the beach crowd, this is it. Fair prices, good service, and food that fills you up.

Best fresh seafood quality
Staff genuinely warm and helpful
Free on-site steaming service
Great value versus restaurants
Local favorite with loyal customers

Shrimp City is a market, not a restaurant, and that's the secret. We walked in for bait and walked out with dinner. The staff greeted us like regulars, genuinely warm and helpful. They pointed us to the best shrimp and offered to steam it on the spot. Free steaming, no charge. That alone beats most restaurants. The quality was the best we found, sweet and briny. We took the bag to a picnic table and tore through it. The price made us blink, in a good way. Locals keep coming back, and now we understand. You get more food for less money, and the seafood tastes like it came off the boat that morning. This is the smart play.

Highlights
Ask for Becky, not Becky
Tornados worthy of applause
Raw oysters: cracker-sized
Flies joined our dinner

Hammerhead Fred's has character, some of it unwelcome. We sat outside and made friends with flies. They joined our dinner without asking. The food had redeeming qualities. The raw oysters came cracker-sized, salty and cold. The tornados, those pastry rolls stuffed with seafood, earned genuine applause from our table. Our server introduced herself as Becky. Then another Becky helped us. We never figured out which Becky did what. Service stayed decent despite the confusion. The flies eventually won, and we left early. That's the trade-off here. Good food, odd atmosphere, and a constant buzz of wings. Go for the oysters. Bring a swatter.

Half platter for two demolished
Raw and charbroiled oysters excellent
Family-friendly, plenty of room

Bayou Bill's wears its casual side proudly. We grabbed a table with the kids and felt no pressure to impress anyone. The half platter for two came out and disappeared fast. Shrimp, crab, and sausage, all cooked right. The raw oysters were clean and briny. The charbroiled ones came sizzling with butter and garlic. Both were excellent. The staff kept it friendly and easy, plenty of room to spread out. This is a family spot, loud in a good way. No pretension, just seafood. We finished and sat for a while, letting the kids draw on the paper tablecloth. The place earned its local reputation the hard way.

Highlights
Worth two visits
Oysters good, even skeptics
Happy hour wine deal
Outdoor seating saves wait
Fried pickles worth trying

Shuckums earned two visits, which says more than any paragraph. First trip, we ordered oysters and fried pickles. The pickles were a surprise, crisp and salty. The oysters won over a self-proclaimed skeptic at our table. Second trip, we went for the happy hour wine deal. The price made the glass taste better. Outdoor seating cut our wait, which would have been long otherwise. The vibe is pub loud, but the food keeps up. The oysters stayed fresh and cold. Service moved fast. We watched boats bob while we ate. Worth two visits, maybe three. Just check the sunset times. And order those pickles.

Flavorful gumbo, perfect bread
Delicious crab cakes with hot sauce

Hunt's sits high above the harbor, and the view from the upper floor made us linger. Service was fast and friendly, the kind that anticipates needs. The oysters came fresh and juicy, priced better than most places on the strip. We slurped a dozen without looking up. The gumbo had depth, with a slow heat and perfect bread for sopping. The crab cakes arrived crispy outside, tender inside, and the hot sauce added the right kick. Everything tasted like it came from a kitchen that knows its craft. We watched boats slide by while we ate. The whole meal felt unhurried, even as plates came quick. This place does the basics right and the details even better.

Fresh, flavorful seafood boils
Consistent, quick kitchen turnaround

Salty Sue's is the post-beach stop. We walked in sandy and tired, and the staff didn't blink. Fast and friendly, from greeting to check. The atmosphere stays casual, all relaxed vibes and cold drinks. We ordered the seafood boil, and it came out quick. Shrimp, crab, corn, and potatoes, all fresh and flavorful. The kitchen turned plates around fast, which matters when you're starving. Nothing fancy, just solid food done consistently. The kind of place you can visit twice in one week and get the same good meal. We left with sand still on our feet and full stomachs. That's a win in any beach town.

Lively local music scene
Friendly, welcoming bar staff
Strong, well-poured margaritas
Great food truck flavors
Exceptional catamaran crew

The Dock is more bar than restaurant, but the food truck outside changes the math. We came for the music and stayed for the margaritas. They poured strong, with enough lime to keep it honest. The bar staff welcomed us like locals. Live music filled the evening, not too loud, just right. The food truck served up solid flavors, nothing fancy, just filling. Later, we saw the catamaran crew coming in from a trip. They were exceptional, friendly and clearly having fun. The whole place runs on that energy. If you want a quiet dinner, skip it. If you want drinks, tunes, and a good time, this is your dock. Bring your dancing shoes.

Waterfront dining with great views
Friendly service, especially Stacy
Perfect spot for sunsets
Live music on weekends
Loaded Bloody Marys and bushwhackers

Off the Hook knows sunsets. We showed up late afternoon, grabbed a waterfront table, and watched the sky go orange. Service was friendly, especially Stacy, who remembered our drink order from the first round. The loaded Bloody Mary came stacked with pickles, olives, and a shrimp. The bushwhacker was thick and cold. Weekend live music drifted over the water, not loud enough to ruin conversation. The food was solid, nothing fancy, but the view carried it. This is the spot for slow evenings. You come for the boats and the colors. You stay for the cocktails and the easy rhythm. Bring a jacket when the wind picks up.

Attentive service, family friendly

Captain's Table got rebuilt, and the new version works. We sat with the family, and the staff treated the kids right. The crab meat came out sweet and succulent, the kind that needs no butter. Shrimp were plump, with a snap that says fresh. The grouper arrived with a horseradish sauce that bit back just enough. Service stayed attentive through the whole meal. Plates cleared fast, refills appeared without asking. The place felt open and bright, no dark corners. For a family dinner, it hit every note. The food spoke for itself, clean and honest. I left full and satisfied. That's the whole review.
